Now the chef de cuisine at Littler in downtown Durham, Amanda got her start at two James Beard award-winning restaurants. She worked at Magnolia Grill in Durham for over a decade and then spent nearly two years at Lantern in Chapel Hill.
“I went to cooking school, but the reality is Ben [Barker] taught me everything I know,” she says. “He trained me on every station I worked, introduced me to the farmers’ market, taught me the value of a rubber spatula, how not to waste and helped me become the cook I am today. He is the mentor and friend that on a daily basis even now continues teach me new things.”
