Max fell in love with wine while working in restaurants in college. After finishing his degree in history, he decided to forego the world of academia for the world of food and wine. This journey led him to wine director positions at the Relais & Chateaux Triple Creek Ranch, as well as a 10-year tenure at the famed Fearrington House Restaurant.
In 2009, he passed the Advanced Exam from the Court of Master Sommeliers. He was awarded Star Chef’s Rising Star Sommelier of the Carolinas 2013, and in 2014 garnered second place in the TopSomm National Finals, the premier sommelier competition in the United States. Max currently works for Broadbent Selections, where he passionately promotes their diverse portfolio of family-owned wineries.
