Michael Cook

Lieb Cellars & Bridge Lane Wine  | Long Island, NY

A self-described “certifiable food and wine geek,” Michael fell into the wine business as a side job while pursuing music performance in NYC. Working his way up the ladder of NYC wine retail over roughly a decade and earning a level III WSET Advanced Certification along the way, he joined the Lieb Cellars team as director of sales in 2014. Since that time (while retaining longtime winemaker, Russell Hearn), Lieb Cellars has essentially re-launched and re-branded both of the Lieb Reserve and Bridge Lane labels, streamlined and increased product offerings, and grown distribution to cover most of the East Coast.

Michael has a passion for local and sustainable food sourcing and holds a firm belief that the “local” conversation should also include what we drink. He aspires to remove himself as much as possible from the agro-industrial complexes that command the wine and food industries and dominate our lives – with the ultimate goal of becoming a farmer and giving back to the earth and the land. In the meantime, he hopes to continue to foster that magic moment when someone realizes New York makes some phenomenal wines.
