A native of Apex, with family roots in North Carolina, Jake’s passion for food was influenced by his grandparents. His grandfather was an incredible waterman and taught Jake about coastal cuisine. With inspiration from his family, Jake embarked on a culinary career in Raleigh, which started at 42nd Street Oyster Bar before he moved on to Goodnight's Comedy Club and The Cowfish. He later helped to open Raleigh Raw, where he strategically created the food program as well as North Carolina’s first poke concept.
He currently serves as the chef de cuisine at 18 Seaboard and works with Jason Smith, the executive chef and owner, to push the envelope of fine dining and Southern cuisine.
