Pizzeria Mercato was founded in 2016, when Gabe returned to his hometown from San Francisco to cook the Italian-inspired food he’d come to love, utilizing the ingredients from the red clay Piedmont soil that had shaped his childhood. Faithful to the Italian tradition, Gabe embraces the principle that “less is more,” allowing the hard work of artisan growers and suppliers shine through in his vegetable-driven menu. In 2017, Gabe was a semi-finalist for the James Beard Rising Star Chef of the Year award.
