An eighth generation Alabama native, Chris got most of his cooking knowledge from his grandmother, who emphasized the importance of using local, fresh produce. He learned how to make her signature dishes like country fried steak, fried chicken, cornbread, deviled eggs, pies, and cobblers – dishes beloved at The Glass Onion. After attending Johnson & Wales in Charleston, he worked at Magnolias, Caneel Bay Resort in St. John, Slightly North of Broad, and FIG before he, Charles Vincent, and Sarah O’Kelley opened The Glass Onion in 2008. Today, Chris and his wife, Suzanne Kelly, are the sole owners.
