Amanda Cushman

Amanda – of Simple Real Food Inc. – is a culinary educator, cookbook author, writer, and recipe developer who has cooked professionally for over 30 years. She teaches privately for groups of 2 to 20 students – and she’s taught in venues such as Sur La Table, The Institute of Culinary Education, The Natural Gourmet Cooking School, and Williams Sonoma.  

Amanda began her food career by catering in Manhattan. She worked with Martha Stewart and Glorious Foods before joining Food & Wine as a recipe developer. She also contributed to Essence, Cooking Light, and Ladies Home Journal. She was a private chef for many years – Amy Levin, the editor in chief of Glamour, was among her clients. She recently relocated to Durham, where she continues to teach in private homes, as well as develop recipes for food publications. Her highly popular public classes are featured at Southern Season, Duke Fitness, and ICE in NYC.
